Flu, frogs, snow, & warm weather. Crazy February recap!

Another month has passed!  This month I had the flu, which took me out of commission for over a week.  Four days of laying around, unable to do anything.  Then an additional week and a half trying to fully recover my strength and appetite.  I cannot tell you how happy I am that is over.  When you get sick like that, it really makes you appreciate having your health.  Our weather has been unusually warm for February.  Due to sickness I only have photos from the first half of the month, when we had snow.  But the frogs are back and making noise, the sandhill cranes have been flying over and little spots of green are sprouting up.  It seems early for sure, but I will say I have enjoyed the warmer temperatures.  (It is Indiana, so I am bracing myself for a later cold spell, we all know it’s coming).

I only read two books this month.  Currently, I am in the middle of a third one.  That one will carry over to March.

“Eat Dirt”  by Josh Axe (288 pages, I read 188, the rest were recipes).  This was a great non-fiction book.  Much of what he talked about I had some knowledge of.  It was a nice reminder and plenty of new information to make me think about the foods I eat.

“The Whistling Season”  by Ivan Doig (345 pages).  Loved this book.  I have read two other books by this author and he has quickly become one of my favorite authors.  I love his writing & storytelling style.  Great book set in the early 1900’s.

Thanks to both of these books I have learned over 30 new words!

Now for a selection of photos, I took this month.  Although it looks like we only had snow this month, there were plenty of warm days, even a couple of sandal days.

One of my favorite places to photograph.  Sorry for the duplicate, but I apparently shoot this exact scene a lot.  Love the sun peeking through the trees.

“The swampland” of our property.  This low-lying region is typically wet throughout the year.  Currently, the frogs are mating like crazy here.

Love the snow on the logs.  Snow has a way of transforming a forest.

This is simply a mud pit frozen over with a layer of snow on top.  Loved the way it looked.

An old bridge.  Our two cats love to hike with us and they always manage to slip into my photos.  Sir Purrs, the orange one is easy to spot, he looks deep in thought.  Nugget, the tiger stripped one is harder to spot.  Can you see him?

A different view of a path.  Loved the way the snow and leaves look together.

Josie, the boxer, tolerating me taking her picture.  She is not really a fan of my Nikon in our face.  But look how cute she is!

I almost forgot.  Today marks 60 consecutive days of mediation!  Thanks again to Insight Timer and 365 Meditate Together.

That is February’s recap.  Looking forward to what March holds.  I predict more signs of spring.  Happy March 1st!
